CITY OF COVINGTON RECEIVES GOHSEP/FEMA GRANT FOR EMERGENCY BACK-UP GENERATORS

The City of Covington has been awarded a grant in the amount of $289,571, representing 75% of the total cost estimated for the purchase of emergency back-up generators for seven major lift stations.  The emergency back-up generators will benefit the city’s residents and businesses, particularly in the aftermath of a hurricane or other natural disaster that results in widespread loss of power.  Among the locations selected to receive the new generators is the 8th Avenue lift station which serves St. Tammany Parish Hospital and the surrounding community.  The cost to purchase and install all seven generators is expected to total more than $300,000, with the City responsible for the 25% balance of funding required.  (READ MORE...)
